Should you make a photo?

Do not prepare your own photo unless the agency or your transaction instructions specifically ask for one.

This page covers a learner (instruction) permit. It does not automatically apply to driver licenses, state ID cards, or every exception.

Where the photo is taken

New Hampshire does not issue a regular learner's permit: from age 15½ a learner may drive with a licensed supervisor and must carry proof of age, so there is no permit photo. The photo is taken later, when you apply for your license and before testing begins.

Online steps and photo upload

There is no permit application to complete online. NH DMV requires an appointment for license testing; it does not say a photo can be uploaded.

Photo law and rules

RSA 263:25 lets a person 15½ or older without a license drive while being taught, if accompanied by a qualified licensed supervisor and carrying proof of age.
