Where the photo is taken

Nebraska DMV driver licensing offices take your photo; the DMV says to be prepared to take a new photo every time you visit an office. The state ID card carries a color photograph.

Online or mail renewal and replacement

State ID cards can be renewed online, but Nebraska DMV pages conflict on how often: the renewals page and online FAQ say three consecutive renewal periods with no maximum age, while the State ID Cards page says you cannot renew online if you did so last time and only once every 10 years. When you renew online, the photo from your current card is reused; you cannot update the photo online. ID cards cannot be renewed by mail.
