Should you make a photo?

Do not prepare your own photo unless the agency or your transaction instructions specifically ask for one.

This page covers a learner (instruction) permit. It does not automatically apply to driver licenses, state ID cards, or every exception.

Issuing agency: Kentucky Transportation Cabinet

Where the photo is taken

After passing the written and vision tests with Kentucky State Police, you return to a Driver Licensing Regional Office to receive your learner's permit; regional office visits include taking your photo. You get a temporary paper permit, and the permanent credential is mailed.

Online steps and photo upload

You can complete a pre-application in your myDrive account to speed up the office visit, but the documents, tests and permit issuance are in person. The pages reviewed do not mention uploading a photo, and it should not be assumed.
