Where the photo is taken

Kansas law requires every ID card applicant to submit to a mandatory facial image capture by the Division of Vehicles.

Online or mail renewal and replacement

ID cards can be renewed online through iKan, and the law lets the Division reuse the most recent digital image on file; a card renewed online in the previous period cannot be renewed online again, so the next renewal must be done another way. No photo upload is offered.

Photo law and rules

K.S.A. 8-1324(j) requires mandatory facial image capture for ID card applicants, and 8-1324(p) allows online renewal using the division's most recent existing color digital image, but not in consecutive renewal periods.
