Where the photo is taken

For a new license or ID, you can start online, but you must go to a DFA DMV office to have your photo taken and pay.

Online or mail renewal and replacement

A duplicate ID card can be requested online through MyDMV and mailed within 3–5 business days; the page does not say a new photo is needed. Online renewal of a state ID was not confirmed, and no applicant photo upload is described.
