Where the photo is taken

New Mexico MVD takes the ID card photo at an MVD Field Office; you must go into a Field Office to get a state ID card. MVD policy is to capture a new photo at every credential-issuance visit, and eyeglasses must be removed for ID photos.

Online or mail renewal and replacement

MVD says replacements and renewals of New Mexico credentials are also available online, but its official pages do not say whether an online ID renewal or replacement reuses the photo on file or allows an upload. That has not been established.

Photo law and rules
